Volunteer Orientation Pathfinder.

A short Storyline prototype for a familiar onboarding problem: someone wants to help, but the path into the work is not yet clear.

This is an independent portfolio prototype inspired by public HRC Houston volunteer information. It is not official HRC training and is not affiliated with or endorsed by HRC.

What was happening

Volunteer organizations often ask people to step into work that is meaningful, public, and sometimes a little intimidating. The first problem is not always motivation. Sometimes people just need a better way to understand where they might fit.

What I built

I designed this as a guided self-selection experience. It introduces the national/local relationship, explains several volunteer pathways, and asks a few low-stakes fit-check questions before routing the learner to a suggested starting point. It is intentionally not a graded quiz. That would be the wrong tool for the job.

My role

I worked as the instructional designer and developer: analyzing public information, shaping the learner path, building the Storyline interaction, refining the visual layout, and doing a first-pass accessibility sweep. The checkbox interaction was built manually rather than as a standard quiz so the experience could stay closer to a pathfinder than a test.
